Those DeWolfes Creative (http://www.thosedewolfes.com/) has completed the YAM Magazine's Autism Awareness Walk/Run website, http://victoriaautismwalk.com/. The event is to be held at UVic this year on April 15th, 2012. The walk raises aware and support from families in the region. Those DeWolfes Creative carried out the design and development. We handled the programming, e-commerce systems and web development. In collaboration with the Mosaic Learning Society, we developed the user experience to help new users and participants alike to use the site to take part in the walk coming this April 15th. The core of the site design was created with Drupal. Under the hood:
- Users can register for the walk/run and join teams.
- Teams can share and collaborate via "Organic Groups" functionality that makes team building possible
- E-Commerce is made possible as result of functionality built by Ontario's 2-Bits Consulting.
- We are using CSS to control the look and feel in a more sophisticated way:
- Gradients, rounded corners and shading are accomplished through cascading style sheets.
- Older web sites need many graphics to create a polished look and feel that invites users.
- This approach shrinks the size of the web pages and makes them easier to download
- The styling means that fewer graphics appear on the page. The text links are better received by search engines like Google and Bing
