Webserve loses CIRA certification

The Canadian Internet Registration Authority announced that Webserve Communications Inc. is no longer a CIRA Certified Registrar. In order for Webserve Communications Inc. .CA Registrants to maintain their .CA domain name(s), Registrants will be responsible for transferring their domain name registration(s) to a new CIRA Certified Registrar of their choice. All affected Registrants have been informed by CIRA of this development.
CIRA has a Registration Support Unit, reachable by email at info@cira.ca, or by phone at 1-877-860-1411.
Under the CIRA rules The Registrar’s failure to be re-certified each year by CIRA prior to the anniversary of its Certification Date will result in the automatic, immediate termination of this Agreement as of the anniversary of the Certification Date and the cancellation of the Registrar’s certification.
The inner reasons why Webserve lost its certification are as yet unclear.

Some quotes about service received from Webserve could be an indicator as to customer satisfaction:
I gave up trying to switch my domain to another registrar after becoming frustrated... they have taken a payment made to them for the purpose of renewing my domain name and used it to renew a domain forwarding service they hooked up to my account once I'd canceled my hosting with them and established hosting elsewhere... I'm out of business. No website. No ability to receive email. If there's even a 1% chance of this happening to you or your business, would you risk it?
They take money and don't pay CIRA, so you get suspended by CIRA. So now you have to try to get to talk with them and have them fix their mistake... I have moved all my clients to other hosting companies.
Whenever we registered a new domain or renewed an existing domain they would usually make a mistake... we would renew the domain for 3 years ... but they would actually only renew the domain for 1 year... they would bill us for services (e.g. hosting) that we never subscribed to... The worst part was that it was very difficult to get them to correct these mistakes. Often each issue would take 6+ months to resolve

We are recommending that .CA domain holders register via Varial Hosting or transfer their domain there.
