Overhead Horror
Over the course of the next few months. I am going to build a 6-8 foot tall sculpture of the Lovecraftian creature, Cthulhu.
Lots of building since my last update. All of this has been to facilitate a sturdy infrastructure that can take some spray on foam.
In this episode, I put some time into building up the armature. The armature is the foundation.
Sanding. Like the Karate Kidnand his "Wax on. Wax off", SANDING SUCKS! I am fine with the idea of polishing. I am fine sanding some parts to get them just-so. I decided to use spray foam to build the bulk of the shape.
This sculpture project has a special feature: It also acts as a water fountain! Stay tuned for a construction update.

Cthulhu is ready! The project I began in April of 2007 is done. It started as an innovated way to use items destined for the garbage or the recycling bin. It morphed into an incredible use of Great Stuff foam; then an ill-advised amount of fiberglass. Put some rocks and mortar into the mix and voila! The Cthulhu water fountain is ready.

A web search for patterns of sewn catnip mice turned up very little, so I decided to make my own.
I wanted to make a hat, based on the hat Jayne Cobb (aka the "Firefly hat") receives
What do you do with a basketful of broken crayons? Make new crayons! Great recycling project to do on a rainy afternoon. 
I wanted a different kind of garland for our mantle so I whipped up a knit intestine and sewed a few severed body parts. I also entered this in the Craft/Instructables 2008 Halloween contest.
